The Arcane Machine is a podcast sharing music from goth/ industrial culture and beyond. Chapter 1 will serve as an introduction to your hosts, Ed Wilson (PixelTunes Radio, The VGMbassy, The Impulse Project, Audio PanicRoom) and Justin Schneider (XVGM Radio,) who grew up in and around the goth scene in the New York/ New Haven area. For those not familiar with the music, consider this an introduction to the type of songs we’ll be playing on the show. For those closet vampires out there, you’re sure to be fond of some of these selections, and you may learn some new facts along the way.
East meets West on this month’s chapter, where we open the show with some great industrial acts from Japan like Schaft, Mad Capsule Markets, and Schwarz Stein. Then we head west and spin some tracks from Poland’s C.H.District, German artist Paul van Dyk, and the UK’s London After Midnight, plus more! You’ll pray for salvation with E Nomine’s “Vater Unser.” And finally, you’ll be treated to an in-depth examination of both Juno Reactor and Laibach’s interpretations of “God is God.”
This month, Justin and Ed share some more great music: Ed focuses on high-energy industrial rock, with entries from bands like Chemlab and The Faint. Justin’s picks complement those tunes nicely, throwing Ministry, Eisbrecher, and more into the mix.
It’s no secret that hosts Ed and Justin each have their own video game music podcasts, so it was inevitable that their interests would intersect eventually!
